Aims & Activities
Kent Association for the Blind (KAB)

Kent Association for the Blind (KAB) provides information, advice and support for people who have visual impairment, their families and their carers. KAB also holds the formal register of visually impaired residents across the London Borough of Bromley, on behalf of the local authority.

KAB can provide information on how to become registered as blind or partially sighted. Depending on individual need we can also offer home visits and assessments, mobility training, advice and training on using technology, equipment, practical strategies to manage daily tasks safely, support to access certain benefits or allowances, befriending and social groups. We may also be able to offer ongoing one-to-one support, depending on individual needs.

We do have specific eligibility criteria in terms of visual impairment to access these services, although we are happy to offer information, advice and guidance to anyone who contacts us. Broadly, you need to have visual impairment in both eyes that cannot be corrected with spectacles or surgery, so if you are experiencing difficulty in managing your sight loss please do contact us for more information.
