Charles Bonnet Syndrome (CBS) causes a person whose vision has started to deteriorate, or has experienced sight loss, to see things that aren't real, known as visual hallucinations. The hallucinations may be simple patterns, or detailed images of events, people or places. They're only visual and don't involve hearing things or any other sensations. People with CBS are usually aware that the visions aren't real, even if they're vivid.
We recognise however that these hallucinations can be very upsetting or disturbing for some people. Other people may find that they become used to the hallucinations and are less affected by them.
KAB, in partnership with Esme’s Umbrella, is running support groups for anyone affected by CBS and their families or carers. The group:
• brings together people with shared experiences to support each other
• helps create a space where people feel accepted and understood
• treats everyone's experiences as being equally important
Our group is run using Zoom which gives you the option to join either by video or by dialling in on a telephone number.
For more information about CBS, please visit the Esme’s Umbrella website, www.charlesbonnetsyndrome.uk
For further information about our group or to book a place please contact Scott Jones, scott.jones@kab.org.uk or by phone on 07890 526773. Anyone can join, and joining details will be provided when you book a place.
As this is a virtual group it can be accessed from anywhere. KAB itself is based in Kent.
The group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 11.00 a.m.
