Beckenham Children’s Theatre took up residence at Azelia Hall Beckenham in 2021 in order to continue the legacy of children’s theatre in the area that began way back in 1948!
The ethos of these sessions remain, as ever, to provide workshops for children to develop confidence, creativity and performance skills as well as building friendships and becoming part of a team. Sessions consist of warm ups (vocal and physical) and concentration games, improvised pieces for both individuals and as a group, ending with a performance, to which we give all provide feedback and notes. It’s a fun, no pressure environment, where you are as much at home inventing stories as doing an impromptu Hokey Cokey!
The sessions run as below
Children’s Theatre: Saturday mornings, 10 – 11.30 (age 8-11-year 6) 12.00 – 13.30 (age 11-14 years 7-9) Youth Theatre: Thursday evenings, 20.00 – 21.30 (age 14-18)
The sessions are popular but we hold a waiting list for when spaces become available Please email childrensbtc@gmail.com for information.
The sessions are run by Emma and Louise who between them have over 25 years of running children’s theatre and are both experienced performers and directors in their own right,
Louise has a background in education, as a teacher and now a teacher trainer and Emma has been a teaching assistant and local guide leader prior to taking up a job within the entertainment industry, They have full DBS and Chaperone licenses and Emma is First aid trained.
The groups are run on a ‘Not for profit” basis, at 25.oo a term, (3 terms a year) with discounts for siblings.
