The BDSSG has been running for over 25 years and there are over 50 families who make up the support group with family members of all ages who have Down Syndrome.

The BDSSG promotes positive awareness and inclusion of Down Syndrome by engaging with the Local Authority, local medical centres and the community.

Join our community

The Bromley Down Syndrome Support Group is a community of families in the London Borough of Bromley who have family members with Down Syndrome.

Our group offers a network of support and engagement for parents, carers and family members and we welcome new members.

Being part of a community that understands and can support you in navigating a new path can be invaluable.

How we can help

Advice and Support

The BDSSG offers advice and support about what health, education and social services are available and how to access them. Group members are always on hand to offer tips and tools to help manage the day-to-day practicalities of having a child with Down Syndrome.

Get Together

BDSSG holds tea and catch up sessions on the last Thursday of every month from 1pm-3pm. These are held at the Phoenix Centre in Bromley.

There are regular Mum’s/Dad’s nights out, where we meet for dinner and a relaxed chat at a restaurant in Bromley.

We hold social occasions such as our fantastic family fun day, which give families, extended families and friends a chance to all get together socially and get to know each other.

Education

The BDSSG works with local health centres to provide a more realistic and positive view of Down Syndrome that enables midwives and other health professionals to adapt the way they interact with local families about Down Syndrome.

The group is working on some exciting new projects that will provide opportunities for our children and young people with Down Syndrome to develop their social and communication skills and get their creativity going...so watch this space!
