Affiliated to the Stroke Association, Sidcup Speakability is a self-help group run by and for people with Aphasia - language-loss following stroke, head injury or other neurological condition.
At their meetings, they support each other, share experiences, make new friends, rebuild self-confidence and develop new skills. Please note, they do not provide therapy.
They practice total communication using words, drawing, pictures and gesture. Everyone there understands Aphasia and encourages each other in their recovery.
The group meets on Tuesday weekly from 10am to 12.30pm in the Magill seminar room at Queen Mary’s Hospital Sidcup although it’s run entirely by volunteers rather than the hospital itself.
Currently (Winter 2021) the group has vacancies available. Please get in touch to enquire.
