BCWA runs ‘Keys to Freedom’ Support Groups for survivors of domestic abuse.
The groups help women who have experienced domestic abuse to understand what happened to them, how it happened, and to then move forward confidently into their futures.
The support groups help women understand domestic abuse and place responsibility for it solely with the perpetrator. They aim to:
Increase women’s ability to take control of their lives.
Illustrate the effects of living with domestic abuse on children.
Help women identify and enforce their personal boundaries.
Assist women to recognise potential future abusers.
Understand domestic abuse and the beliefs held by perpetrators.
Enable women to gain self-esteem and the confidence to improve the quality of their lives.
The groups are run in 12 weekly sessions. All programmes are free.
You can apply directly for a place in the group, or agencies can refer their clients by using this support groups referral form.
