We Have partnered with the Bromley police community safety team and the Bromley Jobcentre to identify and support people with criminal convictions and equip them with the tools they need to live a life free from crime. If applied, we firmly believe that they can become a productive and important part of our local community. Our project will begin to operate within the borough of Bromley. Our vision will be to roll out the Breakthrough Project to other local Jobcentres in the future.

Early Intervention

Doing What’s Needed

Partnering with the Safer Communities Team at Bromley Police Station who will identify those on the cusp of repeat offending or at risk of a custodial sentence if they choose to continue on that path without intervention.

We will provide mentor support and an action plan on how they can move into further education, training or full-time employment.

Skills Workshops

Equipped For Success

These are structured group sessions that will be delivered in-house by our team and our community partners. We will be covering topics such as How to disclose criminal convictions, completing online job applications, building self-esteem among many others, to equip our clients with the confidence and tools needed to take that next step towards gaining full-time employment.

Breakthrough Mentoring

Making a Difference

The purpose of the mentoring programme is to influence positive change in attitude, thinking and behaviour of service-users through structured mentoring. Our volunteer mentors are recruited and trained from members of the community and some are themselves successfully reformed ex-offenders

Support Services

Through our local community partners, our clients will benefit from additional support in the areas of Budgeting, Mental Health, drug & alcohol misuse and counselling. These sessions will be delivered by trained practitioners in a group setting and on a one to one basis. We recognise that some people have multiple needs that will need addressing before they can become job-ready. 

Employer Engagement

Tackling the challenges together

A fundamental aspect of the Breakthrough Project will be our intensive employer engagement drive to secure the commitment of key local and London-based socially responsible employers.

This can be a difficult task due to employers not exploring or having any personal experience of taking on an ex-offender and discovering the benefits and value they can bring to their business. Yet there are many employers such as Timpson's, Virgin and Veolia and many more who have first-hand experience of recruiting from this un-tapped group and have never looked back.
