Having been in operation for over 15 years, The BCC Foodbank is a result of one persons desire to help a family they knew had fallen on hard times over 15 years ago. From humble beginnings, this social justice initiative often sees us helping the most vulnerable people, when all other avenues of support have been exhausted and no other help is available to them. Clients are referred to us through various agencies, including the council, the Citizens Advice Bureau, Women’s refuges, Bromley Homeless Shelter and others.
Since the Coronavirus outbreak, we have seen a demand for our services increase five-fold and the Foodbank become a real life-line for dozens of individuals and families.
Donations
For the last decade or so, we have been blessed to partner with many local schools, who donate their harvest festival collections, which has largely provided enough stock to last us a year.
We are also extremely grateful for the weekly donations of bread we receive from the Sponge Kitchens. This is distributed to clients and also used to support BBFB and BDAS.
The Foodbank has also been blessed by weekly donations from COOK that we have been able to distribute.
Some agencies are collecting on behalf of their clients and our volunteer team is delivering food bags to those unable to collect for themselves.
While we are well stocked for many items, other items are either about to, or have already run out.
If you can help in any way, we would really appreciate donations of:
