Pakiki Projects

Pakiki Theatre

Community is vital to us and we aspire to work with local communities to foster cohesion, a sense of belonging, and break down barriers. We also think it’s important to bring theatre to marginalised audiences and those who may have limited access to the arts, and aim to tour to community and non-theatre venues as well as the usual places.

Our first project, 'Local Heroes' (known as The Big Bromley Hero Hunt), was the impetus for establishing Pākiki Theatre. It is a Local History show for the children of Bromley to engage them with their community and inspire them with tales of extraordinary residents past, present and future. 'Local Heroes' marked the beginning of many more wonderful projects in different geographical areas, often free to audiences as a result of public funding. Our work has reached numerous schools, theatres, community spaces and heritage events.

We love to collaborate with other organisations and community groups, so please do get in touch!
