Knit and Natter

St Mary's, Downe

KNIT and NATTER is a social get together, doing wool crafts and nattering - the group meets generally every fortnight on Mondays and share ideas about knitting and crochet, as well as producing their own projects. New members are always welcome.

Their latest group project for Easter 2022 is knitting some colourful eggs for Cudham and Downe and these will be left in the centre of our villages from Palm Sunday until Easter Sunday, 17th April, for anyone who would like to take one home with them. Other projects in 2021 have included knitted Easter butterflies of hope and knitted angels, symbols of love and joy. These have all been kindly knitted by local people.

During 2018/2019 the group supported the Kent & Medway charity Making Miracles by making all sorts of small garments for premature babies. The charity provides services such as trauma and bereavement counselling after a high-risk pregnancy, miscarriage, premature birth or baby loss.

During the latter part of 2018 the group also made some beautiful knitted poppies which were displayed in Cudham Churchyard for Remembrance Sunday, and also on the Remembrance Tree at the Christmas Tree Festival in Cudham Church.
