The Cafe, led by Sarah, launched in February 2018 and would be open to guests from 2.00 - 3.30 on the first two

Tuesday afternoons of every month except for August. It is open to both parishioners and non parishioners. All the

volunteers have had DBS checks and many have attended dementia awareness sessions. We soon built up a steady number of guests and enjoyed celebrating birthdays, wedding anniversaries and Christmas etc. There is always plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits and on special occasions homemade cakes from one of our guests!

The sessions are structured so there is time for a chat, a quiz, bingo and lots of music thanks to Margaret Connell and Brigid Darcy. Children from St James school have visited regularly and our guests really enjoy listening to them singing and having a chat with them later.

Many of our guests have made strong friendships through the Cafe. It is also useful to those with caring responsibilities to meet up with others in similar situations. We finish by singing “Bring me Sunshine” and that always makes us

smile!
