Sidcup Age UK day centre provides a chance for the over 50s living in Bexley to get out and enjoy a day socialising with others, taking part in events and activities and to enjoy a hot cooked meal.
* Referrals for the centre can be made through Bexley Council’s Screening Team on 020 8303 7777, then at voice prompt, ask for Screening Team. If you do not meet the council eligibility criteria or do not wish to contact the council, then Age UK does accept people paying privately. Transport to the centre will then not be included, but they'll advise you on alternative transport methods.
* Staff are all trained and are able to deal with all aspects of personal care and moving and handling people with appropriate equipment.
* People with low level dementia and those who are very frail are both welcome.
* The centre is also an opportunity for carers to have a day of respite.
Activities include:-
* arm chair exercises - follow a set of exercises put together by a fully trained tutor;
* visits by Nightingale Therapeutic Dogs;
* professional singers with songs music and dance;
* quizzes/games, including board games; skittles, carpet bowls and quoits;
* tai chai sessions.
