What We Do

Our Elocution Classes use reading and recital, backed by activity-based exercises that are designed to reinforce memory, as well as being entertaining. Poems and readings chosen from the LAMDA syllabus and other material are used as a tool to create the correct pronunciation of sounds, all of which are appropriate to the relevant age group and curriculum specifications.

Students are given books to record the work and are also asked to illustrate the poetry or prose given, as this encourages the imagination and can be a useful memory aid. The students are trained to speak in front of their peers, other larger groups and to take part in local festivals and for LAMDA examinations. The skills attained develop confidence for interview technique, presentation skills and are a valuable aid in preparation for working adult life.
