YOUchoose Personalised Support Service for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deafblind People

Deaf Plus

YOUchoose is a national service. Deaf Access in Bromley provides the YOUchoose service for the residents of Bromley.. The aim of YOUchoose is to encourage and assist clients to manage their lives more independently and to exercise choice.

 Clients choose a Personal Assistant (PAs) to work with.

 PAs are:

  • deaf or hard of hearing themselves or are hearing and deaf aware;
  • they receive supervision from experienced managers
  • receive regular training to enhance their skills.

The client decides when and where to meet their PA and for how long. Clients set their own goals. Based on these, an assessment is made of what the client needs and which services can help.

This information is used by service managers and commissioners when writing care and support plans.

The service can be access via: Adult social care direct payments or individual budgets or private funding.

The cost band for the YOUchoose service is discussed individually.
