Walking for Health

Bromley Healthcare Charity

A health walk is a regular, weekly walk led by a trained volunteer leader. The local group is supported by Bromley Healthcare administratively and the Ramblers Association and Macmillan Cancer Support nationally. If you want to join in, just turn up or you can self refer or be referred by your GP - see contact details.

There are lots of walks going on across the borough. The walk on Mondays at 10.40am in Sundridge Park is particularly suitable for older people or those less steady on their feet. It's quarter of a mile long and lasts about 20 minutes. Meet at Minster Road entrance to Kings Meadow Park, BR1 4DZ.

* When you first join a walk you'll need to complete a simple health questionnaire.
* Other meeting points are St Paul’s Cray, High Elms Country Park, Darrick & Newstead Woods & Tugmutton Common, Kelsey Park & Harvington Woods, Jubilee Park Petts Wood, Bromley Church Gardens and Scadbury Park.
* Distances vary from quarter of a mile to 3.5 miles.
* Walks are held every day of the week - contact them for further details.
* Here are a few things that walking can do for your health:
• Help your heart and lungs work better
• Lower your blood pressure
• Keep your weight down
• Lighten your mood
• Keep your joints, muscles and bones strong
• Increase ‘good’ cholesterol.
